Alexis Sanchez mindset is good ahead of Deadline Day, says Chile boss Juan Antonio Pizzi

Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez is in fine spirits despite the uncertainty over his future, Chile manager Juan Antonio Pizzi has revealed.

With the end of the transfer window closing fast, Sanchez’s time at the Emirates remains up in the air after Manchester City’s £50m move was rejected by his current employers on Wednesday, according to Sky sources.

Sanchez has less than 11 months remaining on his current contract and is yet to sign terms on a fresh deal.

It has also been reported in several papers that City had sent a delegation to Chile to thrash out a deal for the 28-year-old and conclude a transfer with Arsenal before the end of Deadline Day.

Speaking ahead of Chile’s World Cup Qualifier on Thursday evening against Paraguay, Pizzi said: “He is very, very good. He is happy.

“Until the deadline for transfers is closed, it’s difficult to elucidate Alexis’ future. But one way or another, his future will be great.

“In any of the possible options that are being handled, his future is very good. Then there is no reason for him to be dissatisfied or annoyed.

“Any of the options he has are very good or excellent. We are talking about a top player that plays for one of the best teams in the world and is trained by one of the best coaches in the world.

“So his current conditions being an Arsenal player are almost superb and almost incomparable. Now, all the options that are being handled, are similar.

“To say that he can be nervous about his future is only a metaphoric way to talk about this. All of us would want to have this kind of worry.

“In many occasions, the decisions don´t depend on one person, there are other interests involved and the player cannot control them. He is at the expense of this decisions.

“That is why there is a period, that the associations consider logic. August 31 I think. After tomorrow he will now better about this aspect of his career.”

Arsenal denied claims Sanchez had handed in a transfer request on Monday night, while Chilean media T13 reported that he had asked to leave the Chile training camp to “conduct personal business”.

Arsene Wenger has reiterated his desire to keep Sanchez throughout the summer and said earlier in August that he hoped the former Barcelona man would extend his contract.

Sanchez made his first appearance of the new Premier League season in the 4-0 defeat to Liverpool on Super Sunday having been given extra time off in the summer after competing for Chile at the Confederations Cup in Russia.
